One week

So it's been a little over a week since Baku came home. He's been fantastic in keeping us busy. He has so much personality and just loves playing. The cats are slowly coming around to tolerating him.

Walking him is always fun, people frequently cross the street to ask about him, even at 3am.

We're still working on the housebreaking, he's having trouble with it.

Welcome Home Baku!: Pictures

So our plan was to be on the road by 11am... that was quickly deterred as John had some last minutes work at home to do and I was dragging Rachel along with us. So by 1130 we're grabbing food and drinks when Bec starts texting us. We swing by work to bring her along because hell, the more the merrier!

I drove to Havasu with Rachel in the passenger's seat constantly yelling at me to drive carefully. We made it in resonable time and hurray puppy!
He's sooo tiny - only 4lbs! He's still super friendly, and tries to climb over your shoulders in order to give kisses. We're probably not going to send in his AKC papers since we're not breeding or showing him. Breeder said he'll probably lighten up to a nice red and lose a lot of the black and grey on his body. I hope not because it's seriously cute.

John drove on the way back and Baku was fantastic the whole car ride! Only one little freak out but besides that he napped or watched out the window.

He adjusted really well to being home - very quick with the housebreaking (no accidents so far!) and he doesn't bother the cats too much unless he thinks they want to play. We've already gotten a taste of the Shiba 500 and the infamous Shiba scream.

More to come later!

Baku: Pictures Part 3!

Meet Baku!

We were pretty sad that we weren't going to be able to get Baku this weekend due to unfortunate timing and money allotment. The guy before us finally picked out his puppy and we learned which one is ours! I woke up to a ton of pictures from the breeder this morning and just had to share. This little guy is the skinny playful one with the cheetah face. He's gotten so big, so quickly!

Life as it is

So I'm terrible at keeping this updated... you'd think I'd get better over the years but nope. So, in the past month or so, I've been busy! Work has been keeping me worn out and my blood pressure is similar to being back in college.
~~
Good and awesome things have happened though, back on August 16th I went to the Zappos Vendor Party. It was County Fair themed so I didn't even have to buy an outfit! It was also really nice to be able to have a night of drinking and fun with my friends.
~~

What else? Oh yeah! We (I) took in another stray cat. I know I know, I'm not even a cat person! This new kitten is pretty freaking awesome. We named her Maverick to match the current cat naming theme. She's super playful and friendly, it makes a nice match to Goose's skittishness.
It took them about a week to get used to each other but now they love playing and they mimic each other all the time. I know this is a pic spam post and disjointed but I figured if I didn't do it while blasting out my ear drums with Bach, then I'd never get it done. Hopefully the next time I post it will be all about PUPPY!

Baku: Pictures Part2!

So today John and I drove to Lake Havasu to visit the puppies! There are two males..
and we're waiting for the guy in front of us to possibly pick his. We spent two hours cuddling and playing with them. They are seriously the cutest puppies ever and both were so loving! One was a bit chubbier with a wider face, he was very sleepy and spent most of the time drooling on my shirt. The other is skinnier and was really playful, he wanted to tug on our hair and chew on us. Which ever one we get, we'll be bringing him home on September 4th!

It's been a long and exciting day, time for bed! I start my brand new job in the morning!

Baku: Pictures!

Mid-July, three litters of puppies were born. One of them is ours! Two of the litters are 3 weeks old and so chubby and fluffy.

There are a total of seven puppies, I think 4 of them are males. All of them are red or red sesame (black tipped fur).

We're making plans to go to Havasu next Sunday to visit the puppies and hopefully pick ours out! They'll also be in town on the 25th for their shots.

Seeing pictures is probably the best thing ever! Now comes the fun of buying all the puppy stuff and puppy-proofing the apartment. PUPPY!

Oh yea, I also got a job. =D

P.S. So after long deliberation, we decided to change the name to Baku!

Project: Dining Room Table

A bit ago, a friend gave us a small dining room table that had been sitting in her garage for years. It's a super nice wrought iron table with glass top. The chairs at one point had been white, but as white fabric often does, it got pretty dirty.

So my first project was to reupholster the chairs:
Not bad right?
However we (I) decided that we wanted a more Tuscan/Mediterranean look in the dining room.

So a million staples later, no seriously, I've never seen so many staples on a chair.

Next step is to spraypaint the iron black and start building a tile-top.

Hope to get that started soon!

REBOOT

So I've decided that I need to start this shite over again! From now on, I'm going to be posting more often (maybe >.> ) and will involve life regarding pets, baking and home design.

Big News! Mochi (now Baku) has been born!!!! We get pictures this upcoming Friday, then get to start planning our trips to Havasu to visit him! We are so excited, it's not even funny. More to come later, really just wanted to get everything updated.

Melancholy

Good news - I have a job interview on Tuesday and I'm pretty confident that it'll go well. I'm pretty excited and most everyone else is too, of course the S.O. is "too busy" to be excited. Huh.

Lately though, I've just been feeling like getting a car and driving until I hit the Atlantic Ocean. I've been craving the experience and desire for nothing but open road, wind in my hair and good music. Of course, enjoy getting blitzed with my close friends when I get there is just the cherry on top. It's depressing to know I can't and probably won't be able to for years yet.

I feel lost again and hope that I get this job, I may find some sort of direction with it.

This is getting depressing so I'm going to do something useful, like post a picture of my cat in my underwear drawer.

Night bitches <3

2009

If I could say one thing to this year it'd be: Fuck You.

Seriously, I'm not sure I've ever been so excited to start a new year.

I started this year off badly, in another miserable relationship with a self-centered douche bag. I was kicking myself so hard for not running like hell when I had the chance. Come February though, I reconnected with John and started building up the friendship we had missed out on the first time around. In March I moved into one of his spare rooms and thought this year started looking up.

In April I had to take my baby all the way to NC in a last-ditch effort to save him. After two weeks, I left him there with a feeling of dread. That feeling was right when two months later I was forced to allow him to be put to sleep because of something that wasn't his fault. I never got to say goodbye and my heart still aches every time I think of him. The anger and bitterness has faded but I'm not sure it will ever be gone.

Then one morning John and I woke up to find that our house had been burglarized in the middle of the night, everything electronic was taken. This started a never-ending hate for the house and the rental company. To top it off, we were broken into again a few months ago. This time they watched for everyone to be out of the house before tearing it apart in the middle of the day.

So much death happened this year; celebrities out the wazoo, pets we cared for and people we loved. I even lost quite a few relatives before I met them.

Also, fuck you job market..

Despite all this absolutely awful butt-fuckery, good things have happened this year.

I've gotten to watch both of my nieces grow from creepy looking crying machines to beautiful walking and chattering little girls.

We took in a stray cat from our backyard and she's become a loving and amazingly fun part of our family and I couldn't be happier calling myself a cat owner.

I've gotten to spend more time with the girls and love being a part of each others lives. To all the times we've gotten drunk and been there for each other. In this, I've also gotten to see a friend finally get into rehab and get the help he so desperately needed. I'm really proud of him and his woman as well.

To top this all off, the best point of this year/my life had happened and John and I got back together. The breakup had allowed us both to grow a lot and made us better people who were able to deal with a serious relationship. We're able to talk and fight now, we can read each others moods and actually enjoy spending time together. I know that he is the absolute love of my life and I want to spend the rest of my years, no matter how good or shitty, with him.
I love you John.

So the end of 2009 and the end of the decade.. I raise my glass, flip you off and drink myself into the start of a fucking amazing 2010.
